Beverley Palmer-Stiff

Teaching career

Beverley knew she wanted to be a teacher from primary school and education has been an important part of her life since. She began her teaching career in 1999 when she gained her P.G.C.E. at The University of East Anglia and gained her first primary teaching roles in Reading.  Beverley taught in classes from Year 3 to Year 6 in several primary schools during her years living in Berkshire. In 2007, she gained the responsibility of Special Needs Coordinator and joined the Senior Leadership team. Beverley moved back to Essex in 2012, where she put particular focus on upper Key Stage Two, and especially to the changes in curriculum and demands of the Year 6 SATS. Seeing that many children began to struggle with these challenges, Beverley decided to use her experience to provide further one-to-one tuition to try and raise confidence of those who needed it.

Musical career

From an early age, music has been a part of Beverley’s world; learning the clarinet at the age of 9 years old was just the start of things to come. Growing up, Beverley took part in any musical activity available, from performing on the clarinet in wind bands and youth orchestra to being part of the band call for various amateur dramatic theatre companies. Throughout this time, she studied for her ABRSM exams and gained her Grade 8 on the clarinet as well as completing her Grade 5 in music theory.

Beverley went on to study music at A Level where she took on the challenge of learning the piano and saxophone to enhance her studies and knowledge of music. From there, Beverley gained her Bachelors of Art Degree in Music at The University of Southampton. After university, Beverley continued taking part in music activities including playing in several concerts for a Philharmonic Orchestra. These days, she is more likely to be found treading the boards as her love from singing and musicals has led her to be a part of Showchoir in Chelmsford, where she has enjoyed being a member since 2014.
